Sepia

Last night Dad took us out for a quite a nice meal. Sepia
It was a Great meal...very satisfying..
On with the photatoes!

To kick start things off was the "Amuse Bouche" or bread...i was quite hungry so i ate all of it...others rationed theirs out hah
This was just the start of the butter....

7/10 MC points... extra points for the heat on the roll.. the butter "melted like butter" (is there any other way to describe it?!?!)

Next was the "soup" in a shot glass

OR

BBQ Silver Lake Eel, Sushi Rice, Confit Leek and Licorice Powder. probably around 8/10. Explosion of taste in liquid form..

This was Sashimi tuna with sea urchin + creamy sauce. Apparently the tuna came from 2 parts of the fish the belly and somewhere else.. cant remember. First time tasting sea urchin, different alot more "fishy" or "sea" tasting compared to the fish You had to mix it around... giving it some to spread the love.. or cream amongst the fish
...7/10

This was baby yabbies.. i assume they were babies coz they were pretty small.. i think B has a bigger pet yabby than these bad boys...
They were wrapped in a cuttlefish + covered in flowers + seasame "dirt" + spinach paste
Exposed
I ate the flowers.. didnt really taste like much..but still good 6.5/10

Bring on the Buckwheat!....Queensland Spanner Crab and Buckwheat Risotto, Mustard Butter, Shellfish Essence
Now the interesting this about this was the foam!...yummy yummy butter!!!
Again it required to be "folded" into the risotto
This was incredibly rich.. INCREDIBLY awesome.. 8.5/10

Butter Poached Blue Eye...
Again this fish was poached in whatelse... but butter! haha
For a "poached fish", never tried poached before, and steamed fish isnt my fave.. but ill still eat it...it was really tender, soft and melted once bitten
Apparently they were also baby leek.. looks like spring onion
..7/10

This was the lamb..Roast Loin of Gippsland Lamb, Crisp Lamb Belly, Braised Daikon to be exact
more foam! + it had an interesting layer of jelly like substance on top...
i liked the lamb "bacon" crispy... yum yum...8/10

Now for the last main...Wagyu
With some crispy thing on top.. cant remember what it was..!?!?
Spinch paste "painted" on the plate.. and ox tail essence poured around.. like a soup.. it was poured with a tea pot...
i scored mum's extra piece of wagyu.. she was "full"... soft...It was really tender, and soft..every bite brought juices out of the meat...drools...
The only problem was that i found this sinewy bit in mine.. i was chewing chewing chewing.. trying to see if it would break down.. it didnt.. i wanted to spit it out.. but since it was an "up market" place.. i thought this wouldnt be the best idea.. + i didnt have anywhere to put it?! i was contemplating the bread plate.. or lodge it in J's bread roll she didnt eat..
i ended up swallowing it lol..... none the less 8.5/10
The pre desert
This was Pineapple Sorbet + lemon tang + biscuit
sooooooooooooooo good! love the pineapple
J and i saw this other woman scoping there sorbet out on another table.. What the.. give it to me!!!! 9/10... The last course
Marshmellow + coconut sorbet + chocolate flakes + rasberry stuff
The rasberry was super...very zingy... however when combined with other parts of the desert. it went down really well! 7.5/10 Petite Fours - Nougar with pistachios + coconut macaroons 7/10
This accompanied our tea/coffee... i had green tea with roasted rice.. went down well after a big meal.. stuffed ....

Great night.. good food ... even better company :)

Thanks dad!
