Honey pepper

I had this craving for honey pepper... I would have liked to go to Chong Hing .. But that wasn't going to happen..

So a diy attempt.. It was ok.. A little too sour as I put in too much lemon juice.. Doh!

Back from it all..

The past 3 weeks I've been on the other side of the globe, being US / Canada ...

Haven't really been blogging since a lack of Internet @ the new man cave + busy with the move in and holidaying...

Anyways.. Had a super awesome time away.. 3 weeks seemed so long but at the same time so short. I missed home... Sydney.. Still there's no place like home..

Anyways... My fave spot in Banff, Canada.

Putting the slicks on really made a difference ... From 2.1s down to 1.4s.. It's lighter, faster and just so much more meant for the road

J and i went to ikea on the weekend.. he was helping me check out stuff for my place...
We came across the "ikea family" cards..
sign up, get promotions etc... and FREE bottomless coffee!! (another reason to go besides the $1 hot dogs lol)

Waqu - Happy B'day J & E

Mum and Dad took us all out to Waqu to celebrate J & E's bday!
Its a seasonal menu... and since its sept... spring was the go

1st course
japanese salt ‘n’ pepper squid and chicken, dashi mayonnaise
+
tiger prawn escabeche on miso paint with crusted rosemary

I was expecting it to be like S&P squid..but it was different..
not crunchy, but softer.. + a heavy pepper taste rather than salt..

2nd Course
spring vegetable soup

hmmm this was actually kinda average...
didnt really get wow factor from this... 3/10

3rd course
three kinds of sashimi w/ umami soy sauce
ocean trout, tuna and flat head

My fave was actually the flat head!
never had it before! yum!

4th Course was the choice
This was the ONSEN TAMAGO + FOIE GRAS PARFAIT

Apparently it was pretty good.. i didnt try it
but they left some plastic packaging around the foie gras :S

This was the duck... i didnt have this either


my choice was the SCALLOP & CRAB MOUSSE!

was very interesting... the red was the beetroot "soup"
it also came with some "cookie" as pictured next to the scallop

5th course
SHOGA KUROBUTA PORK LOIN + RIB.. this is what e had


and everyone else went for the....
WAGYU BEEF!!!! med rare!

it wasnt the BEST ive ever eaten.. but it was still up there..
i feel bad for eating just some of the fat haha...
still good! 7.5/10

6th course desert!
strawberry mousse, macaroon, pink pepper puree, strawberry jelly, cheese ice cream

Not having the biggest sweet tooth, im not the hugest fan of deserts.. but i do enjoy them
This actually was the highlight of the meal!!!
the mousse was sooo soft.. nom nom! + the pink pepper puree... wow!

overall i think waqu under delivered.. slightly dropped their standard from previous..
but still was a great nite.. and as always the company completed the meal!

Fathers Day Con't

woke up early to make a quick bacon and eggs on toast..
i think in his old age, hes wanting the healthier option... so i poached instead of fried

Canon have launched their new 60D. I just found out tonight...

I was waiting for it to come.. and now it has, im out of date already :( haha..

Looking through the specs it looks like a good camera with Full HD as well!!!

Not really sure if im a fan of the "swivel" screen... kinda makes it look cheap?

Hoarding

Im trying to clean up my room and ive dug up alot of old bday, xmas, encouragement cards etc... its a shame to throw them all away... (they take up a whole box!!!)
but at least ive been reading through all of them!

ive realised a couple of things
1. i love hoarding.. i keep all kinds of crap haha
2. if i met myself as a kid.. i think i would have given myself an uppercut.. i think i was such a punk back then
3. Life changes... soo many people come in and out of your life.. and you dont really realise it. Its kind of sad the friendships that you had, not all of them hang around, seasons change. But life does go on.. i guess im grateful and thanks be to eGod for those relationships... gives you more reason to be thankful for the friends, family and misc relationships you have now.... think about it :)

Yakiniku - Kashiwa

M and T were leaving back to spore so we all headed out for some Jap BBQ.. thanks emo for the recommendation! was sooo good!
We went to Kashiwa in crows nest... was really good food.. the only down side is that you come out smelling like you've sat in hunter connection for way too long :P

Gahhhh the wagyu... sooo good!!! 9/10


E ordered a salad.. i guess to wash down all the meat :P haha


we also had some tongue which was a little too chewy for me 3/10




E supervising the cooking... i call it "masterchef in action"
Pork was also on par! yummo! 7.5/10

We had our div 1 mens final the other day! and came away with a WIN! 7 -4... But as it goes.. all the credit goes to the rest of the team.. not sure how much value i really add lol..
So we were playing a team TLE... it was a hard fought match although we did score 5-1 in the first half

We also got new uniforms. So we were instructed to go buy socks from rebel. so in i went. but no socks i could find :S instead i found some adidas predators :P shocking i know..
but thanks J for picking up the socks for me :)

some socks... yes i know.. socks..

they couldnt even be bothered removing the price lol...
